  1. Dissolve the two lumps of sugar in half a glass of boiling water in a hot glass.
  2. Add the Scotch whiskey, Irish whiskey, and dash of claret, stir, add a little lemon peel, and serve.

This is historically useful because it shows the toddy line branching through mixed-whisky and wine-accented hot service rather than a single fixed whiskey template.
