  1. Put the toasts of bread into a bowl and add the sugar, including one lump saturated with orange-flower water.
  2. Add the grated nutmeg and equal quantities of powdered cinnamon and ginger.
  3. Pour on the ale and sherry.
  4. Add the soda-water immediately before drinking.

This alternate Loving Cup shows that the ceremonial bowl tradition in Terrington spans both wine-led and ale-led constructions.

The soda-water finish gives the bowl lift at the moment of service rather than relying on prolonged chilling.
