mint — Two or three sprigs.base
ice — shaven iceother
0.25 pintwhite wine — Any kind.other
barley sugar — pounded barley-sugarsweetener
0.5 ozsugar sweetener
  1. Combine the mint, sugar, and white wine in a glass.
  2. Fill up with shaven ice, then place the lemon slice and pounded barley-sugar on top.
  3. Serve with straws.

Garnish: Lemon slice and mint.

Ice: Shaven ice

This is a useful witness to the julep form being generalized into lower-proof wine service.

The barley-sugar topping gives the drink a confectionery finish uncommon in modern julep practice.
