| 1 lump | sugar | base |
| 2 dashes | Aromatic bitters — bitters | bitter |
| hot water — Enough to cover the sugar. | dilution | |

- Place the sugar in a large whiskey glass and cover it with hot water.
- Add the lump of ice and bitters, pour in the brandy, twist and drop in the lemon peel, stir with a small spoon, and serve with the spoon in the glass.
