0.25 pintbrandy base
0.5 pintrum base
7 ozsugar — lump sugarbase
1 pintwater — boiling waterdilution
1 glasssherry modifier
40 grainscitric acid other
8 dropslemon essence — essence of lemonother
  1. Dissolve the lump sugar in the boiling water.
  2. Add the citric acid and essence of lemon and mix well.
  3. Add the rum, brandy, and sherry and serve.

This is a revealing commercial shortcut formula, showing how pseudo-citrus punch could be assembled without fresh fruit.

The recipe is essentially an artificial punch concentrate extended by spirits.
