Cocktails by Pedro Chicote (1928, p.323) — Hot

1 tablespoonlemon juice — jugo de limonacid
0.5 sherry glassAbsinthe — absinthebase
2 tablespoonssugar — azucarbase
hot water — agua calientedilution
nutmeg — nuez moscada ralladaother
  1. Build in the glass, stir well, finish with grated nutmeg, and serve with straws.

Garnish: Grated nutmeg

This matters because it keeps the hot absinthe sling branch alive in late Madrid bar service.

The defining point is same-glass hot service with nutmeg, not a separate mixed or strained build.

Cocktails by Pedro Chicote (1928, p.323) — Cold

lemon juice — limonacid
0.5 sherry glassAbsinthe — absinthebase
3 piecesice — hielobase
seltzer — seltzdilution
1 tablespoonanisette — anisetemodifier
nutmeg — nuez moscada ralladaother
2 tablespoonssugar — azucar en polvosweetener
  1. Shake with ice, strain into a water glass, top with seltzer, finish with nutmeg, and serve with straws.

Garnish: Grated nutmeg

Ice: 3 or 4 pieces of ice

This matters because it shows the absinthe sling surviving in a lengthened chilled form as well as the hot service.

The chapter's family logic is preserved here: a nutmegged long drink distinct from the grog line.
