1 glassbrandy — Brandybase
1 tablespoonwater — Waterbase
1 pieceOrange peel — Orange peelgarnish
1 pinchallspice — Allspiceother
2 lumpssugar — Sugarsweetener
  1. Heat all ingredients in a small saucepan until foaming but not boiling, flame briefly, strain into a heated wineglass, and serve.

Book notes gin, rum, or either whiskey may replace the brandy.
