Cocktail Boothby's American Bar-Tender by Wm. T. Boothby (1891, p.37)

1 ponybrandy base
1.5 jiggerangelica wine — angelicaother
Riesling wine — reislingother
  1. Place a piece of ice in a stem claret glass.
  2. Add the brandy and angelica, fill the balance with reisling, stir, and serve.

Ice: Cube ice

This is a useful reminder of how much mixed wine-and-cordial stem-glass service sat alongside the more famous cocktail lines.

The service is a simple chilled in-glass assembly, not a shaken cocktail.
