Mixed Drinks by Herbert W. Green (1895, p.27)

3 dashBenedictine base
1 jiggerOld Tom gin base
3 dashorange bitters bitter
  1. Fill a mixing glass two-thirds full of fine ice and add the ingredients.
  2. Stir with a spoon, strain into a cocktail glass, and add fruit.

Garnish: Fruit.

Ice: Fine ice

This is a useful late-century gin aromatic because it keeps Benedictine and orange bitters in a compact Old Tom cocktail frame.

The service is fully stirred and short, despite the cordial accent.
