Mixed Drinks by Herbert W. Green (1895, p.63)
| 0.25 lemon | lemon — quarter lemon with peel on | acid |
| 1 large spoonful | sugar — bar sugar | base |
| 1 jigger | Whiskey — whisky | base |
| Apollinaris mineral water — Apollinaris | dilution |
- Muddle the sugar and quarter lemon in a mixing glass, then add fine ice, whisky, and Apollinaris.
- Stir thoroughly, strain into a previously cooled ale glass, add fruit, and serve.
Garnish: Fruit.
Ice: Fine ice
This is a useful whiskey long-punch checkpoint because it shows mineral water taking a central role in a punch-named service drink.
Green gives it a muddled citrus base and a strained cold-glass service rather than a simpler built style.
