1 wholeegg yolk — yolk of eggbase
1 very light dashAngostura bitters bitter
0.5 wine-glassBenedictine modifier
0.5 wine-glasskummel — kummelmodifier
2 teaspoonVanilla cordial modifier
  1. Arrange the yolk of egg carefully in the sherry wine-glass.
  2. Add the vanilla cordial, kummel, Benedictine, and a very light dash of Angostura bitters, keeping the colours and ingredients from running together.
Nose
Vanilla, caraway, Benedictine herbs, and bitters produce a highly perfumed nose.
Palate
Bismarck matters because it shows the after-dinner layered tradition mutating into stranger yolk-and-cordial hybrids rather than simply disappearing.
Finish
The finish is rich, spicy, and sweet.
Summary
An eccentric yolk-and-cordial after-dinner drink from the late layered tradition.
