| 1 lump | sugar — Dissolved in a little hot water. | base |
| 0.5 jigger | whiskey, brandy, or gin | base |
| boiling water — boiling hot water | dilution | |
| nutmeg — Grate on top. | other |
- Dissolve the sugar in a little hot water, add the chosen spirit and lemon peel, and fill with boiling hot water.
- Stir, grate nutmeg on top, and serve.
